Louie is six years old and is in Year 2 at Governors Bay School.
Louie was really excited to participate in the children’s art competition for the jetty. He got up very early one morning to take a photo “when the sky was pink and burning”. After that he painted with acrylics over the top of the photo and then added pastel and collage.
Louie is very interested in sharks and tigers. However as he said, there are not likely to be any tigers on or near the jetty, hence why he though a shark was more appropriate.
Louie was born after the quake and has never known the jetty to be functional. He often asks when the jetty will be fixed as he really wants to walk on it, but for his entire life it’s been out of bounds.
