22 years ago, I migrated from The Netherlands to New Zealand to live in beautiful Golden Bay.

Trained as a PE and Arts teacher, I worked in Golden Bay High School as a relief teacher and arts coordinator for 9 years. Besides that job, I started my own studio/gallery, where I created and sold my own sculptures. I also tutored stone sculpting, and exhibited artworks of local artists. Due to personal circumstances, I sadly had to let go all of this, and moved elsewhere.

But change means new possibilities!

I enrolled for a postgraduate study in Arts Therapy and found back my love for creating art. Arts Therapy taught me the role any form of art can play in our lives.

In 2018, I moved to Diamond Harbour, where I joined the local Community Arts Group. We are a nice group of people, who support each other in our creative explorations. We come together every Wednesday morning and exhibit twice a year.

So far I’ve done pastel drawings, and paintings in acrylics. I use these two media in a very experimental way. In that way, I aim to find my own style and improve my skills at the same time.

Mostly I work within a theme for a certain period. After a series of flowers in both media, I’m at the moment finishing my last piece in a series of wetlands and Dutch landscapes.

In the near future I plan to facilitate mindfulness-informed art sessions in small groups from my home in Diamond Harbour.
